Marple Retrospective #1 - Body in the Library
Marple Retrospective #1 - Body in the Library
Much like M Night Shyamalan, Agatha Christie specializes and delights in "twist" endings. This is no exception - but not only is there a twist *beginning*, but in this one the twist ending is surprisingly wacky and even humorous, and I actually laughed out loud.
The second Miss Marple novel, from 1942, she seems somehow not quite fully formed here. The murder is a good one - quite clever - but I felt that things were a little unreasonably difficult for the reader to guess because the clues aren't given to the reader in a particularly "fair" or logical way.
